I'm often asked where I get my inspirations from and I usually joke about my muse and how they inspire me. But I often get my inspirations from just everyday things that most people do not pay attention to. We live in a world where the majority of people do not see anything and it is probably why humans do not see fairies or any other mythological creatures anymore.
My beautiful daughters sometimes surprise me as to how often they actually did listen to me. In one such case, my daughters pointed out the different faces in the walls. It is a simulated wood paneling with the many different wood grains and if you look closely you begin to see faces in the walls. Kind of like making pictures out of clouds that float by.
So recently I have noticed that different faces have been appearing in my bathroom rug. So here I give you an example of one such creature that has appeared as a result of bath powder falling on the rug and then my wife or I walking on the rug. The impressions have left some very interesting things to look at, as well is inspiring some of my artwork.
I was once told by one of my mentors," art is everywhere, but most people do not see it because they are trapped in the matrix of illusion and their minds will not allow them to see what is really there." If you simply take the time to sit quietly, look around you and then sprinkle in a little bit of imagination, you'll be surprised what you see.
Our education system has decided that imagination is a bad thing and have removed art from the classroom. Yet problem-solving and finding solutions to the world's problems can only be done with an imaginative mind. It is unfortunate that our school systems frown upon such imaginations, but yet some of our most brilliant minds come from such imaginative places. I am beginning to think that the real monsters are in Washington D.C.
